Cobra

An early afternoon visitor decided to make their presence felt in an extravagent show. Naturally the dogs went crazy, Lindi went crazy, mayhem erupted and I charged inside to get my..... camera! This juvenile Cape Cobra was extremely aggressive and decided to stay in our garden for a few days. One afternoon it even ventured up onto our stoep near the front door. It is extremely venomous and easily provoked to attack, a solid strike can kill a man within 2 hours. Thankfully none of our dogs were bitten and the snake moved on to a quieter neighbourhood several days later.

Something serene, peaceful, quietly sexy and monochrome for a headache of a Monday morning. I need a vacation - somewhere warm, colourful and far far away. Have a good week.

F R E S H

Winter has come with a vengence and it appears that the drought might finally be over. Temperatures have dropped from wearing shorts one week to scarfs and hats the next. The last four weeks we have received about 30mm of much needed rain and our home fireplace is constantly ablaze! Outside everything has turned green, lush and fresh.

Invitation

Here is our official Rusticus Vintage Cellar invitation to the Wacky Wine Weekend in Robertson. Every wine estate in the Breed River Valley will be doing something special the first weekend in June. At our cellar we'll be having game drives every two hours, a photographic exhibition in the cellar, wine tastings & cellar tours, gluhwein, country sausages, gourmet soups & crusty breads all accompanied by live acoustic music and a band in the evening. It promises to be a warming experience in the middle of winter.

Backseat

Backseat fun in a vintage Dodge. I'm still recovering from a recent wine-making accident, but the sudden onslaught of the Cape winter has motivated me to get my blogsite up and running again. Also, the first weekend of June will see my very first public photo exhibition. Framed works of my own photographs will be displayed in our wine cellar. If you are in the Robertson area, do come down to the Rusticus Vintage Cellar for a fine glass of red wine while browsing the images on exhibit. Hope to see you there. Stephan
